The traction elevator occupies a rather unique position at the juncture between many disciplines: mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, civil engineering, architecture and facility management technologies. The requirements set forth in terms of technical equipment and safety as well as in cost management during both the construction and operation phases are many and varied. And in the center of this catalogue of related disciplines and (in some cases competing) requirements, the suspension means are a central mechanical element in traction elevators.

It is possible for vendors with a wide-ranging line to serve the global market for elevator components only with the support of expert advise and consulting. An essential aspect here is that, in addition to face-to-face consulting, the customer have access at all times to current product information, technical descriptions and certificates. Elevator assemblers today no longer seek just individual components; they expect their supply partners to provide system competence and in-depth consulting.

For over 20 years the Heilbronn Technical Academy is organizing lift seminars in the German language. The event that is most noted and has the longest tradition is the ”Heilbronner Aufzugstage“ which is known far beyond the borders of Germany and which welcomes more than 250 participants every year. The steering committee of these seminars has now decided to extend the existing programme and organize for the first time an international congress.
