Today, more than ever before, buyers around the world expect elevator ropes to offer long service lives while at the same time being available at competitive prices. The Gustav Wolf Seil- und Drahtwerke GmbH & Co. KG, Gütersloh, has been a reliable vendor to its customers for many years and is untiring in its efforts to develop new, cost-optimized ropes.

The car races at a speed of 10 m/s from the lobby to the 47th floor, and stops exactly level with the landing. Thanks to MoSIS, the elevator control system knows the position of the car at any given moment to accuracy of within less than half a millimetre. The same system also performs a whole series of safety functions which in traditional elevators had to be distributed over various individual components and subsystems.

The VFA-INTERLIFT e. V. was founded in 1987 as the Association for the Promotion of the Use of Elevators (since 1995 as VFA-INTERLIFT, Association for Elevator Technology). The target of the 11 founder members was defined as “the promotion of the use of equipment for people moving”. The idea was to promote, among a wide segment of the population, an interest in elevators and all associated comfortable and modern transport devices for people in all walks of life.

The fact that Heilbronn, as the venue for the congress, is not just the national “Mecca” for lift manufacturers but also that the events staged by the Technical Academy at the University of Heilbronn are internationally recognised within the sector, was impressively demonstrated by this first European Lift Congress Heilbronn (ELCH) on 28 and 29 June 2005. The theme was also highly topical.

The Henning rope load measuring system WeightWatcher embodies a new measurement principle: At each rope, an individual load sensor is mounted which no longer has to be calibrated at the lift using weights, but can be optionally used in any location. The measurement signals are collated in an indicator unit, permitting a check of both the cab weight and even rope tension.
