Proper display systems optimize the performance of a destination system, by getting people in the right place more quickly to optimize traffic flow. They ease the transition to a destination system by giving the people the information they need to be more confident of knowing they are doing the right thing. This reduces any training time and cost that may be incurred, and allows systems to be introduced and accepted in a faster time frame.

Who says building lifts isn‘t an art?

Werner Beck
The equivalent of Berlin‘s renowned Museum Island can be found in Bavaria‘s state capital Munich: The famous art museums along the „artist‘s borough“ Schwabing. Four constructions, mere paces apart, present their collections to an audience of art enthusiasts in Munich ‘s art district:
The Alte Pinakothek is home to the “Old Masters”. The Neue Pinakothek houses paintings from all major periods from the late 18th century to the beginning of the 20th century. The Pinakothek der Moderne is one of the world‘s largest museums for fine art of the 20th and 21st century . The museum of the Brandhorst Collection has contemporary works from modern artists on display since May 2009.

Scandinavia is paving the way: There, more than 45 percent of lift alarm systems are already based on GSM mobile telephoning technology. GSM is now starting to establish itself as a standard for connecting elevator alarm systems. And that for good reason: GSM solutions enable fast and flexible implementation, meet legal requirements in terms of quality and functionality, are considered to be ready for the future and also offer a savings potential when compared to conventional land line connections.

The IAEE Elevcon 2010 was convened in Luzern, Switzerland between the 2–4 June. The venue for this 18th Elevcon was again by water only this time it was Lake Luzern and the dramatic KKL convention complex. Here the IAEE elevator specialists were able to hold their congress with over 150 delegates and presenters who all gathered to exchange research results and reports regarding elevator technology and other related people moving topics. The KKL complex and surrounding facilities fittingly boast a number of Schindler lift and escalator installations which were appropriately used by delegates as they moved between their hotels and congress hall. I can report that the people moving equipment was all working fine which was not the case at Zurich airport where the escalator serving the railway lobby was moving so slowly it could hardly be said to be moving and people were stuck on it. The Arups team of elevator consultants took the stairs and I followed. Thank goodness I did, for the queue for rail tickets grew by over 80 people in the time it took for a passenger who elected to take the escalator when I took the stairs. This equated to a 15 minute delay in buying a train ticket and as we all know Swiss trains don’t wait!

The new updated DT3X range of Meiller swing doors

Product range modified in line with market demands
Meiller Aufzugtüren GmbH from Munich can look back on decades of success and experience in designing and manufacturing quality sliding (telescopic) lift doors for use in virtually all applications. As a company with a long tradition, it also produces and sells extra-long swing landing doors, which have proven extremely durable in characteristically rough industrial environments.
Modifications have recently been implemented, based on changes in market demands, amendments to applicable standards and optimization of the technical production process; this has now led to the launch of the new DT3X range of swing doors.
