Investment into the development of products according to the new European regulations

The EN 81-58 Standard is the New European Rule, published in January 2004, that specifies the method of test for determining the fire resistance of lift landing doors which may be exposed to a fire from the landing side in accordance with the Lift Directive 95/16 EU. This method has been designed to measure the Integrity and, if required, Radiation and Thermal Insulation of Lift Landing Doors.

The reasons for the introduction of New Test Method in Europe is that the fire protection requirements of lift landing doors differs from the ones for other fire doors in a building.
This New Code has the status of a Harmonized Standard under the Lift Directive 95/16 and is therefore presumption, i. e. the basis, of conformity to the requirements laid down by the Directive.
This New Code has the status of a Harmonized Standard under the Lift Directive 95/16 and is therefore presumption, i. e. the basis, of conformity to the requirements laid down by the Directive.
This interesting European Standard uses a unique methodology, the Gas Tracer Technique, to assess the flow of gasses from the Landing Door side to the Lift well. This new method for measuring the integrity of a door is independent from any human error in taking measures, as sophisticated equipment is employed to keep all stages of the test under control.
A wide range of Sematic Doors have been successfully tested under this New European Standard.
The assessed Sematic landing doors guarantee a fire resistance performance up to 120 minutes in accordance to the performance criteria specified in EN 81-58:2003.
The assessed Sematic landing doors guarantee a fire resistance performance up to 120 minutes in accordance to the performance criteria specified in EN 81-58:2003.

The following features/executions are currently available:
• un-insulated landing Doors (steel door or framed glass) which satisfy the integrity (E120) and/or radiation criteria (EW60) – where appropriate and applicable
• insulated steel landing doors which satisfy the integrity and the insulation criteria (EI60 or EI120).
On the Sematic landing doors different types of technical solutions have been developed by the Sematic Technical Department, all these are in compliance with the EN 81-58:2003 Standard, for example:
• different type of cills: aluminium, stainless steel or mild steel, standard and hidden execution, etc;
• different type of claddings: powder coating primer, wood laminate, stainless steel, aluminium, gilding metal, Brass …
• portal construction;
• push button cut-outs;
• different type of door construction and arrangements.
