This year’s Schwelm symposium, the third in the series, was held on 2 and 3 June. The topic was advanced technology in and around lifts. The venue was the Hotel Haus Friedrichsbad in Schwelm, which offered ideal conditions for the event. The symposium, organized by Henning GmbH, VFA Interlift e. V. and Lift-Report, attracted considerable interest in the lift sector. About 130 delegates registered for the tightly packed programme.

The individual presentations are not outlined here, because the abstracts are available in Lift-Report 2/2005 and the full texts can be downloaded from the Henning homepage.

The symposium was chaired most effectively by Werner A. Bohm, Managing Director of VFA. The varied and interesting presentations gave rise to extended discussions among the delegates, indicating just how controversial some of the topics were. As a result of the discussions, the time schedule slipped slightly, but the organizational talent of Henning GmbH soon made sure that everything was under control again.

For relaxation, Dirk Henning had organized a brewery visit for the first evening of the event. The barbecue which followed gave the delegates further opportunity to make contacts and continue their discussions. The feedback from participants was thoroughly positive and it was therefore decided to hold another symposium next year.

The 4th Schwelm Symposium is due to be held on 15 and 16 May 2006.
