Events during the Trade Fair
interlift 2005
It is a nice tradition and gives an indication of the family atmosphere prevailing at this Fair that the organizing company and the sponsoring association, the VFA-INTERLIFT e. V., invite the trade press to a get-together on the evening before. This year, Lift-Report joined in hosting the event so that Heiko Könicke as head of the AFAG und Peter Lauer of Lift-Report were able to welcome about forty friends from the press. In a convivial Augsburg pub, the reunion was celebrated with beer and good “home cooking”.

Although we press people work closely together during the year, we can meet personally only at trade fairs. The evening simply flew by with interesting talks in an international hodgepodge of languages. None of us want to miss this introductory meeting and find it a successful prelude to the days that follow at the Fair.
The stress of the first day at the Fair melted away at the dinner in the “Red Grizzly Saloon”. The “Round up interlift” collected many exhibitors and their staff, the management of the VFA-INTERLIFT e. V., the Advisory Committee, representatives of international associations and journals, and the delegations of foreign participants with the organisers of the AFAG in Hall 6. With typical southern German cuisine, people talked shop in numerous languages, discussing the impressions gained on the first day. It has proved a success to move this joint event on the fair grounds directly after the opening. The big attendance was the best proof. For many people the interesting talks lasted well into the night, but that is how it should be: talks at the stands are important, but the informal contacts on such evenings are an essential supplement.
On Wednesday, at the close of the fair, we met at the now traditional “Saxon” evening at the joint stand of the IHK (chamber of industry and commerce) Leipzig. Particularly interesting was the intensive conversation with the new manager of the Zentrum der Förder- und Aufzugstechnik Roßwein gGmbH, Prof. Dr. Heinz Steinbach. It was agreed that in future more publications and contributions from this institute would appear in “Lift-Report”. The experiments and activities offer interesting material for our readers.
Another treat was the VDMA Party on Thursday. Between midday and two o’clock everyone met at Stand No. 637 with “Beer, Wurst and Standardization”. Albert Schenk, chairman of the “Lifts and Escalators Group” in the VDMA, had the opportunity to welcome an impressive number of visitors. The activities of the Group were presented at the stand. Intensive talks amongst the visitors showed that with this party the VDMA had found its niche.
