Heavy-duty Meiller Lift Doors

For Optimum Availability of Lifts in Trade and Industry

“When passenger lifts are down, there are still stairs available, but when a freight lift is out, the entire production stops. And that costs a lot of money.”
Michael Mattheis,
Daimler AG, Mercedes-Benz
Large capacity lifts for heavy and bulky loads must fulfill extreme requirements with regard to strength and availability. That applies especially to lift doors – the components that experience the most stress in a lift.

In large production facilities, such as in the automotive industry, freight lifts are often a functional part of a production line or a logistics system. These lifts are operating nonstop.

Problems arising from a lift integrated into such a system, and possibly caused by defective doors, could block the entire production. In turn, such downtimes result immediately in immense costs for the operator. That’s why the performance and reliability of a lift as well as low maintenance is a top priority.
Detailed Overview of Product Characteristics:
Industrial lift doors from Meiller combine all standard quality characteristics of high-quality doors, supplemented by special peripheral equipment for heavy industrial doors:
  • Door transom   Closed box-section with side walls, sheet thickness min. 2.5 mm, resistant to deflection and dirt.
  • Guide rails   Very rigid, made of steel with high section modulus for great stability and smooth operating characteristics.
  • Track rollers   Mated to the contour of the guide rails, diameter generally 65 mm, ball bearing and made of high quality polyoxymethylene (POM) for best operating characteristics, optional heavy-duty rollers made of cast polyamide to withstand extreme stress for long service life.
  • Strong, safe door shoes   continuously variable, can be replaced when needed without disassembling the door panels. No complex, cost-intensive replacement of the entire door panel in case of damage in the sill area. This means greater operational reliability and minimum downtime.
  • Continuous sill support for landing doors (option)   for lifts with high rated load, allows fast installation, simple alignment and prevents a concentric height offset.
  • Strong steel sill edge,   generally made of profiled tubing or solid profile section.
  • Thermolit® door panel variation especially for off-site facilities   for high dimensional stability in case of direct solar irradiance.
  • Heavy, robust door design   ensures stability and high performance operating characteristics.
All of these product characteristics stand for
  • Reduced maintenance time
  • Reduction of problems
  • Long service life
  • Low operating costs.
Peripheral Equipment Specifically for Heavy Industrial Doors:
  • “Comfort skate”
Constant positive fit and force closure between car and landing door during the entire opening and closing process until the end position is completely reached by the expanding skate kinematics. Both followers move relatively away from each other when the doors open and towards one another when closing. Skate made of galvanized steel, low maintenance, highly resilient, equipped with a pivoting mechanism running on a needle bearing. No problems in the lift due to incompletely closed landing doors.
  • Patented zone locking
The patented zone locking EP 0744373, type-tested by TÜV in accordance with EN 81/Part 1 + 2. Failure-free operation thanks to mechanical functional principle.
  • Reinforced kicking rollers
Kicking rollers on the leading door panel, made of steel with flange increase stability and safety against falling.
  • Reinforced continuous bottom guide shoes
Door panels with reinforced continuous guide shoes for increased stability and safety against falling.
  • Optional versions
Protection classes for water-proof and explosion- proof design.
Teleskop-Schiebetür ZENIT®
Meiller offers this six-panel, centre opening landing and car door system for especially demanding use in industry and for lifts with exceptional dimensions.
  • Clear opening: DW 2500 to 5000 mm x DH 2500 to 5000 mm.
  • Transom as welded box-section made of 5 mm sheet steel.
  • Door hangers with oil-resistant track rollers, running on ball bearings, Ø 120 mm and kicking rollers Ø 65 mm.
  • Door panels made of galvanized 2 mm sheet, double-skin with internal reinforcing ribs.
  • Continuously variable door guide shoes, solid steel sill with dirt trap, replaceable from above when door panels are opened.
  • Both door halves are driven synchronously via a twin skate system.
  • Skate system with forward control and backlash-free connection between landing and car doors during the entire opening and closing cycle.
  • Quickly replaceable skirting protection made of rectangular profiled tubing 50 x 80 x 4 mm, mounted in front of the slam posts recessed accordingly. When the door is open, the door panels are 50 mm behind the skirting protection on both sides. Consequently the door panels and slam posts are protected against damage.
  • Solid steel sill for maximum rated loads, can be replaced with door open without having to disassemble the door panels. Significantly chamfered sill profiles to prevent fl ash formation.
  • VF door drive MAT-1600, protection rating IP54. Simple to adjust using potentiometers.
  • The low maintenance door drive is synchronized on two toothed belts (20 mm wide) and controlled by a microprocessor.
  • Clear mechanical layout of individual components. No limit switches required, freely selectable running characteristics.
  • Optional twin skate TA 8 DV with patente zone locking system
Variations of Heavy-duty Meiller Industrial Doors:
Meiller sliding doors in series 21, 22, 28, 31 and 32 of industrial design are available depending on model and version with a door width from 700 to 3500 mm and height from 2000 to 3500 mm.
Heavy load doors of the special ZENIT® dimension are manufactured starting with a door width / height from 2500 to 5000 mm.

Aids and Support
Our program of heavy lift doors for industry and trade are backed up by the unique digitalized planning aids and a wide variety of services:
As the only manufacturer of lift doors, Meiller offers a fully parameterised, digital product catalogue, enabling easy, rapid and safe planning. After selecting the desired type of door, the door shapes are generated automatically in all three views and can be transferred into the CAD system at the click of a mouse. This saves costs and reduces errors.
Meiller is in continuous contact with lift manufacturers, planners and operators and therefore knows the requirements right through to the user. This results in a higher level of product usefulness, creates solutions at interfaces, and therefore provides a better complete package for the user. On top of that, Meiller also provides quick and qualified assistance – especially on site. This increases the output capacity of the lift manufacturer and increases the safety in project processing.
Moreover, Meiller offers product training for its customers and partners – even on site. This leads to better product knowledge among lift manufacturers and users, which reduces installation and service times and consequently costs.
