We commemorate Horst Wittur
For us, he was not only a much valued and long-standing member, he embodied what it is that distinguishes the German lift and elevator industry – he brought personality and a human touch to our day-to-day business. With his cordial and conciliatory manner and his responsiveness to new ideas, he made a greater mark on the industry than almost any other individual. In him, we have lost not only a universally respected market figure but also a friend.

Ever thoroughly committed – Horst Wittur
Horst Wittur passed away on February 6, 2010 following a serious illness. With his passing, the lift sector has lost an entrepreneur and a personality whose vision, wealth of new ideas and untiring creativity made a rare and lasting mark on our industry.
With a fearless attitude to risk and enormous entrepreneurial courage, Horst Wittur dedicated his life to the development and management of his company. At the same time, he used his solid foundation of experience to play an invaluable role in the trade bodies and organizations with outstanding commitment and expert advice.
He also lent a helping hand to the Lift-Report. Since the very beginning in 1982, when I joined the industry, he has always been a critical and constructive discussion partner. In every encounter, the humanity which meant so much to him never failed to shine through.
The Lift-Report team will not forget Horst Wittur as a man and a personality, and will hold his memory in the highest esteem.

In memory of Horst Wittur
who passed away on February 6, 2010.
Horst Wittur was a founder member of the VFA in 1987. During the following year, he was elected to the Board, of which he remained a member until 2004.
Over this period he made an enormous contribution to the work of the Association, and was a stalwart supporter also through difficult times. With his international contacts and breadth of experience, he instinctively knew which direction the Association should take for the good of its members. There was consequently a special place in his affections for the Interlift Fair as an international presentation platform and the process of standardization, both of which formed a focus of his work within the Association. Furthermore, he always had a receptive ear for problems within the industry and frequently had good advice to offer.
In Horst Wittur, the Association has lost a tremendous personality whose dedication over a period of many years has been instrumental in its positive forward development.
We will always hold him in the highest regard and honour his memory.

In Memoriam Horst Wittur
One of the pioneers of the interlift International Trade Fair for Elevator Technology and a long-standing member of the Trade Fair Advisory Board has passed away. With his passing the international lift community and we have lost an outstanding entrepreneurial personality, a much respected advisor and an extraordinary person.
Horst Wittur steered his company with enormous dedication into a position of international importance. The experience, international network and expertise he invested into the interlift with such commitment were vital to its development into the world’s leading trade fair for the elevator sector. He was a softspoken man, whose approach to discussion was matter-of-fact, critical and constructive. He cared deeply about finding optimum solutions for his industry, for the committees and boards he belonged to and for the Trade Fair.
Horst Wittur made an enormous impression on us with his personality, his way of life and the breadth of his specialist expertise. We very much value our dialogue with him and the sound advice he gave us. A man of true worth – he will be sorely missed.
