Smartphone and friends - are they habit-forming?

"There´s a time for work and a time for play." That maxim has become a thing of the past. In this age of modern technology, the boundaries between the two are becoming ever more blurred. Thus 88 percent of all workers are available to customers, colleagues or supervisors outside their regular working hours, via the internet or the cell phone. That was revealed in a representative survey carried out on behalf of Bitkom, the association of advanced technology companies in Germany. According to this poll, 29 percent of employees can be reached for work-related matters, either by telephone or e-mail, at all times. 45 percent are available only at certain times outside their regular working hours and 15 percent can be reached only in exceptional cases.
