Professional modernization solutions by Meiller

After a service life of twenty years or more, the car doors tend to be the part of the lift that displays the most wear, and in many cases, it is a difficult task to locate any necessary spare parts. As a result, repairs often consist of adapting individual components in the existing transom. A standard solution often proves a complex and expensive process, despite expectations of affordable prices, and is not even coordinated to match the door.

Meiller Aufzugtüren GmbH offers a genuinely professional modernization solution, which promises lift operators sustained utility by ensuring long-term lift availability and thus reducing overall costs. The company develops complete car doors that can be combined with existing landing doors already installed in the building. And what is more, solutions are available that allow the permanently installed door frames and sills to be retained when replacing landing doors. This removes both the risk of damaging and the necessity of redesigning door entrance areas, which are themselves often quite complex. The car doors are fitted with a variety of door actuator systems to fit the respective type of landing door used: spreading skate, clamping skate, or fixed skate.

Professional modernization solutions for car doors made by the four main manufacturers
A version of the Meiller STK26 centreopening, two-panel car door that incorporates a clamping blade has been developed to enable modernization of the centre-opening, two-panel ADM1 car door made by Kone. The system is dimensioned to match precisely the respective Kone landing doors. The clamping skate mechanism is isolated from the door movement, allowing the landing door’s hook lock to disengage before the door begins to move. Once a positive form fi t has been established between the car door actuator and the hook lock, both doors open synchronously. This also applies to the closing cycle, whereby the car and landing doors are closed completely, and only once this has been concluded is the landing door locked through the opening movement of the door actuator. A lift door that employs this system requires no closing spring or weight to complete the final millimetres of the closing movement, a common cause of problems with more stiffly moving landing doors. The same system has been adapted for the side-opening, two-panel Kone ADM2 car door, based on the side-opening, twopanel TTK 25 car door. Both of these doors are driven by low-maintenance DC motors via a driving belt, in combination with the reliable Siemens AT 18 door controller.
Meiller car doors with spreading or clamping skate mechanisms are also available for replacing the M2TS1 and M2TS4 side-opening, two-panel car doors made by Thyssen.
The biggest range of modernization products offered by Meiller is for lift doors manufactured by Schindler. Complete car doors are available for the remarkable QKS 6 door as well as for the QKS 8, QKS 9 and QKS 11 car door models; these are in turn available as a two-panel, side-opening model, or a two/four panel centre-opening version. Particular mention should be made of the modernization solution employed in the construction of the two-panel, centre-opening QKS 9 car door. In this case, the thickness of the door panel of the Meiller car door has been increased to 85 mm, to ensure that no further adjustment of the cabin door closing mechanism is needed when replacing the car door.  A solution incorporating a 3D light curtain fitted to the door panel has also been created. Additional system solutions are available for the TTS72S and HV72 models made by Haus hahn.
The two-panel, centre-opening high-performance Supra car door made by Otis can be replaced by the Meiller STK 26-Supra model.
Meiller custom-built car doors are compatible with existing landing doors made by other manufacturers
Meiller’s professional solutions are not just available for modernizing lift doors made by the four multinationals. Suitable modernization solutions are also available for other lift doors, including the TV-SL2 by Schmitt & Sohn, TS5 by Osma (TV 07/145 landing door), Monitor (EFV 289/1 landing door), Sematic/ Liftcomp (ATV 543 landing door), and the 690/13 Stahl door, Star Lift and Prisma.
Additional custom solutions as required
Customers requiring door models not yet listed here can request technical data sheets issued by Meiller, in which you can enter the relevant dimensions of your existing landing and car doors. Experienced Meiller door specialists working in the technical department will assess in the short term, whether a professional solution can be confi gured to suit your needs, and if so, what form this will take and what the cost will be.
Meiller’s range of proven and tested landing doors
The tried and tested EvoS and EvoM solutions are also available for landing door modernization. These are mounted to the landing wall immediately behind the swing door frame and sill remaining in the building. The EvoM version is characterised by its low installation depth. EvoN is designed for landing door niche installations, allowing continuous variation of the frame width and height between 80 mm and 250 mm and the depth between 40 mm and 100 mm. This avoids gaps in the floor or sides of the doorway. All three door solutions can be manufactured with a height and width dimensioned to the exact millimetre, thus ensuring optimum usage of the available landing space.
