High-ranking decision makers are particularly
active exhibition visitors
Even though it is still a long way to the interlift 2019 exhibition which is probably the most important one for the international lift industry and which will take place in October 2019 in Augsburg, it is worthwhile to take a look at the significance of exhibitions in the world of business.
According to the LAE e.V., an amalgamation of publishing houses and the Association of German Media Agencies, high-ranking decision makers of companies and authorities such as board members, managers and heads of offices are particularly active exhibition-goers: 87 % of them visit fairs, 71 % of them at least once a year. From 2.93 million decision makers in German enterprises and administrations a total of 81 % visit exhibitions – at least occasionally. Apart from the high-ranking decision makers, 92 % of the executives of R&D and design departments visit exhibitions and at least 87 % of the purchasing and procurement departments visit fairs occasionally.
But also on an international scale exhibitions score their points: in the first half of 2018 international and national exhibitions registered an average increase in the number of exhibitors of 2 % and a rise in stand area of 1 % compared to the previous events. These are the results of provisional calculations made by the AUMA – the Association of the German Exhibition Sector.
The number of visitors remained almost constant and with an annual figure of some 10 million guests this is indeed a respectable result. One of the reasons why this development is again a positive one is another above-average increase of the number of foreign participations despite the announcement and implementation of protectionist measures in several countries.
As in the previous year the number of domestic participations, too, showed a stable development. For 2018 as a whole the AUMA is predicting a slightly stronger growth compared to the first half year.
